Station Street Festival 2025 | Day One: Scarlet, Tramhouse & the Spirit of Plovdiv

In the first studio episode of the Station Street Festival 2025 podcast, hosts Nikola Nikolov, Antonia Alexandrova, and Vladi Sevov look back on an unforgettable opening night.

The evening took an unexpected turn when French electronic act Acid Arab had to withdraw due to health issues, handing the headline slot to Dutch post-punk band Tramhouse — a last-minute change that turned into one of the most talked-about performances of the festival. The hosts discuss how the Rotterdam band's raw, urban energy took the Plovdiv crowd completely by surprise, drawing comparisons to Lola Rore's breakthrough at the same festival a few years earlier.

Also in the spotlight: Scarlet, a fresh young band from Burgas who opened the night and left a strong impression with their melodic, melancholy sound — drawing influences from Bulgarian acts like P.I.F., Ostava, and Dalech i Iznad. Anton from the band joins Antonia backstage to talk about the group's origins, their debut single "Sunflower," the Samodiva Society community that helped launch their career, and their eagerly awaited debut album. The episode also features a candid English-language backstage interview with Tramhouse, who reveal they spent their day off in Plovdiv writing music in a rehearsal space — and hint that a new track, possibly inspired by the city, might make it onto their next record.

A warm, honest, and music-packed conversation about what it feels and sounds like to live inside a festival.
