Experimental progressive rock standouts VILLAGERS OF IOANNINA CITY, one of the leading bands of the famous Greek heavy rock scene, comes from the mountains of Epirus. They gather their strengths from Greek nature and cosmic spirits, letting it flow right into their phenomenal infusion of heavy psychedelic rock with folk instruments such as bagpipes, clarinet and flutes.
Since their formation in 2007, they have drawn listeners into the heat. Their sound is flowing slowly melancholically yet booming with irrepressible energy and wildness. With a sonic synthesis of progressive and stoner rock influences and waving vibrant soundscapes topped by a large dose of Greek-folk elements the band precisely hits the mark.
After the band released their promising debut album, “Riza” (2014), the Greek musicians followed up with the game-changing album, “Age of Aquarius” (2019) – catapulting them straight to the biggest rock festivals and numerous sold-out shows in the biggest music scenes.
