In partnership with private mint Bulmint, in 2024, Station Street Festival presents its' new festival medal with a cause.

Just like last year, 500 collectors medals with artistic and charity value were gratuitously created by private mint Bulmint. Embossed оn the mirror-like surface on the obverse is the festival logo - a stylized image of a classical steam locomotive from the beginning of the last century.

The north facade of the Central Railroad Station in Plovdiv, which is a true cultural monument, is used for the design of the obverse. The refined architectural style is rendered with exquisiteness and attention to detail, and the technological advantage of the most advanced techniques in coinage, used by Bulmint. The image presents the building in its most authentic manner, as it was 116 years ago.

The construction started in 1905 according to the project of the Italian architect Prof. Mariano Pernigoni and lasted for 3 years. The official opening was on November 30, 1908. A curious fact from this period is that earlier that year - on September 26, Tsar Ferdinand arrived in the city in connection with the declared Independence of Bulgaria and was received at the still unopened station. This is the reason why one of the halls was called the "Royal Waiting Room".

The station in Plovdiv then had a total of 11 tracks - 5 main and 6 ordinary. The reception building was created on the principle of symmetry, with a baroque, richly ornamented facade and three risalites - a risalite is a part protruding in front of the main line of the facade, built most often along its entire height - from the ground to the roof. The northern facade is the main facade towards the station square. A shed was built in front of the southern facade of the platform on the first track, the supporting structure of which has been preserved in its original form to this day, only its roof covering has been replaced.

The choice of this particular building to be on the medal of the "Station Street" festival is not accidental, Bulmint comments and recalls that the path that connected the station to the city has become one of the most beautiful and emblematic streets of Plovdiv – "Stationary" street. The homes of European diplomats, architects and technicians were located on it. Nowadays it is known as “Ivan Vazov” Street, because it was renamed in honor of the poet in November 1920 during the celebration of his 50th creative anniversary. Then Vazov became an honorary citizen of Plovdiv, and this important street for the city took his name.

Both during the first edition of the festival and in 2024, all funds collected from the sale of the medal will go as direct financial aid to the "For Our Children" Foundation and its work to help Bulgarian children and parents.
